“I was thinking this morning, and this is just kind of a thought experiment because I was thinking about this — why don’t we just put everybody in a space outfit or something like that?” Moore asked. “No. Seriously.”
They have of course no idea consciously that they are actually expressing a key idea being whispered from the “ether” – something we touched in the previous post “Planetary threshold“: Humanity becoming a spacefaring species, bifurcating time and ending history.
And I would have to add that it’s probably not a forgone conclusion that this “destiny” will be fulfilled. Mankind may still be “aborted” before its seeds can be spread outside Earth. Or at least requiring a highly controlled easing of the planetary “quarantine”… a la Knowing.
Nothing new under the Sun. Remember the Great Flood? Remember the Tower of Babel?
As expressed through Madonna last year: “Not everyone is coming to the future”. Apart from the inevitable conspiratorial take on it, there is something to that, something also inevitable.
