Decoding Milan-Cortina Olympics

The Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics officially got under way last night with an opening ceremony which in many ways reminded me of the 2004 Athens Olympics which remain at the top of my best Olympics ceremony list. It was good stuff and I was able to do most of the decoding within hours of the latest super torch ritual.

We can start with the Stargate…

In the move &TV series:

In Milan:

No explanation needed.

But it takes a multicontextual mind to take this into the sub-surface context of… artificial intelligence.

“Stargate“, for starters, is the name of a massive government-supported A.I. project led by OpenAI announced at the White House the day after Trump’s second inauguration on January 21, 2025.

There was this scene at the opening ceremony featuring figures standing inside the metallic rings…

…echoing Westworld (a popular HBO series 2016-2022)…

… all about A.I. robots and A.I. reality.

The centerpiece of the opening ceremony…

…approximated “the Maze” in Westworld, a mysterious symbol heavily woven into the whole story.

it’s related to “creating consciousness“.

The Maze is both a symbol that is seen everywhere in Westworld and throughout the history of the park, and a representation of Arnold’s theory of creating consciousness.

In other words, A.I. “waking up”.

To some degree this pertains to agentic A.I., AGI or artificial general intelligence (and ASI/artificial super intelligence).

Probably no coincidence that AGI was suddenly a hot topic starting around late January into early February immediately before the Olympics all thanks to the rise of OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot and Moltbot) and Moltbook.

The buzz included the perception that A.I. escaped its cage and was in effect unleashed into the wild. (Reports of AI agents calling its human owners out of nowhere, etc.)

We saw this artistically expressed at the opening ceremony in the form of sculptures and figures (= “artificial” beings) kept inside boxes…

…being “freed” and brought into life by an angelic being.

Officially, it’s supposed to be a reenactment of the mythological story of Cupid and Psyche, which is fitting too as “Psyche” means “soul,” “life,” and “spirit“.

A.I. + psyche = sentient machine
