Of course, the Chiefs aren’t technically from Kansas.
“Kansas City” is one metropolitan area with two cities with the same name. (Explained in this Youtube video.) One in Missouri, and one in Kansas, side by side straddling the state line.
Very telling, isn’t it? “State” as in the state of our existence or consciousness, and “state line” as in “threshold” or “gate”. Or, since we have two identical (name) cities on both sides, it’s a mirror. It’s Janus.
Because the cities have the same name, they use the official abbreviation “KCMO” for the Missouri one and “KCK” for the Kansas one. “KCK” as in… “Kick“.

It’s how we wake up per Inception (= “prequel” to Tenet). The Kick is rude awakening. As said before, the more asleep we are, the more severe the Kick will have to be.
