Enter the phoenix – Part 2

Thanks to STR readers, we’re now detecting an unexpectedly strong “phoenix” signals in and through the figure of Bruce Lee… And it’s not just Bruce Lee any more.
As we saw in Part 1 Bruce Lee was a huge phoenix/dragon figure destined to “return” per the symbolism that surrounded him. Returning, symbolically, in the form of Brandon Lee, Bruce’s son, a la Horus the resurrected form of his father Osiris.
Prompting us to realize that, as noted by reader Ozzmosis, Brandon Lee in “The Crow” (1994) – the movie Brandon is best known for – looks pretty much like the Joker, the archenemy of Batman!
Underscored by the almost interchangeable bat-crow imagery.
In “Dark Phoenix B” we talked about the upcoming movie “Joker” starring Joaquin Phoenix, how it ties in with not just the phoenix/rebirth theme but also that of Sirius B.
It gets eerier when added that The Crow is all about resurrection. Brandon Lee’s character dying and then coming back to life a year later to avenge his and his fiancé’s murders.
Brandon was actually killed – in real life – during the scene of Brandon’s character getting shot to death! (This happened just days away from the completing the film.)
Out of fiction, into reality. In a way, Brandon’s death set the stage for the Joker’s resurrection… now imminent in the form of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie.
Joaquin himself is also resurrected form of his brother River Phoenix, a popular actor who died of drug overdose on Halloween – the night when the dead are resurrected – in 1993.
Cue the Twilight Zone music…
Joker will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in August during the Dog Days of summer/Sirius, then theatrically released on October 4th.
