Another time travel movie, another “618” signal…
This one is called Stasis released in August 2017 (watch trailer). The method of time travel used is very similar to one used in Travelers where time travelers take over the bodies of those who just died (in the past, from the travelers’ perspective). The second season of Travelers was just released on Netflix today, December 26th…
In the first episode of Travelers‘ first season a time traveler goes to a computer to check in with other members of the time traveling operation and we see “8:16” on the computer screen with a shadow of an “Open” sign on the wall. The word is reversed so as to imply the time “8:16” too is to be reversed to say “6:18” which is our magic number/time. (See Threshold 618 – American Eclipse for more on the theme if you are new to this.)
In Statis a time traveler takes over a body of a girl who just (almost) died and immediately tries to contact other members through a computer, just like in the Travelers scene. And sure enough, the same time is displayed on the computer screen, “8:16“! Same time, same context.
This is clearly an intentional “wink”, not a happy coincidence. At this point can you really doubt that we are dealing with a real pattern and message with “618” and its permutations? It’s like a “secret handshake” that time travelers use to identify themselves as time travelers.
Can’t wait to see what’s in the second season of Travelers. Time for some binge watching before the new year!
