Super Torch Ritual

The Horn & the Gate

Your eyes don’t deceive you. That is a giant horn and a wormhole at the Oscars last night…

…confirming a key theme we anticipated for the event i.e. the Unicorn cracking open the Stargate!

Even more compelling – though more hidden – to the multicontextual mind was the show’s opening performance by Janelle Monáe singing “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” and “Come Alive (The War of the Roses)” (video).

Why? Two reasons…

First, her debut (full length) album is called “The ArchAndroid” (2010) and she has said she “only dates androids”.

We just highlighted (in “Unicorn whispers…“) Blade Runner and how it relates to the Oscars, unicorns, and dreaming androids.

[Blade Runner based on “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”]

And two, Janelle Monáe was born in KCKKansas City, Kansas. I’m not kidding. that is her birthplace.

She was in effect K(i)CK-ing open the Oscar “stargate”. A theme stemming directly from the Super Bowl where the winning team was the Chiefs from Kansas City on the Missouri side, one half of the unique “Janus mirror” metropolitan area with a “kick” (KCK) – discussed in “The Secret Kick – Part 2“.

Underscored by the fact that immediately after her performance the first presenters Chris Rock and Steve Martin jokingly equated Janelle Monae with J.Lo’s Super Bowl halftime show (see for yourself here).

Chris Rock’s presence was also important for another reason but we can’t go into that one before revealing more Super Bowl stuff. Coming soon.

Janelle Monae’s performance also included a moment where she screamed “horns, now!” (watch) as the horn section started playing loudly. Very telling.

If you’re ready for some (more) STR magic, well, stay tuned…

It’s raining syncs.
